Application effect of a systematic intraoperative pressure injury management plan on spinal surgery patients with spinal cord injury

Abstract：Objective To investigate the application effect of a systematic intraoperative pressure injury management on spinal surgery patients with spinal cord injury.Methods A total of 86 spinal surgery patients with spinal cord injury admitted from June 2021 to June 2023 were included as the study subjects.They were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group using a number table method,with 43 patients in each group.Both groups implemented a routine intraoperative management plan for spinal surgery,while the observation group was additionally given to a systematic intraoperative pressure injury management plan.Incidence of stress injury,patient comfort and satisfaction were compared between groups.Results The incidence,case number and area of pressure injury(PI)were significantly inferior in the observation group than those of the control group(P＜0.05).Patients in the observation group had significantly lower skin pain scores in the compressed area at 12 hours,24 hours,and 72 hours after surgery compared to the control group(P＜0.05).There was no significant difference in comfort scores between the two groups before intervention(P＞0.05),while postoperative physiological,psychological,and environmental comfort scores were significantly higher than those of the control group(P＜0.05).The nursing satisfaction score of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion A systematic intraoperative pressure injury management plan can help reduce the risk of intraoperative PI in patients with spinal fractures accompanied by spinal cord injury,reduce the degree of skin pain in the compressed area,improve patient comfort,and achieve a good patient satisfaction.
