Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effect of a small tarsal sinus incision combined with manual reduction and percutaneous internal fixation using titanium needles on Sanders Ⅱ calcaneal fractures. Methods A total of 105 patients with Sanders Ⅱ calcaneal fractures admitted to Beijing Tongzhou District Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine from April 2019 to April 2023 were selected and divided into the study group(n=55)and the control group(n=50)according to different treatment methods.Patients in the control group were treated with a traditional L-shaped external expanded approach to open reduction and internal fixation, while those in the study group were treated with a small tarsal sinus incision, manual reduction and percutaneous internal fixation using titanium needles. The length, width, height,Bohler angle,Gissane angle, and other anatomical indicators of the calcaneus after surgery and follow-up for 6 months were measured. The American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Score(AOFAS)was graded to calculate the excellent and good rate, thus evaluating the functional recovery. Results There were no significant differences in surgical time and intraoperative bleeding between the two groups(P>0.05);The hospitalization time and incision length of the study group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).The length, width, height,Bohler angle, and Gissane angle of the calcaneus were significantly improved in both groups after surgery(P<0.05),and with no statistically significant difference between group(P>0.05).The AOFAS score and excellent rate in the study group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the postoperative adverse events between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The treatment of calcaneal fractures with a small tarsal sinus incision, manual reduction and percutaneous internal fixation using titanium needles is satisfactory, with the advantages of simple operation, minimal trauma, and fewer complications.
