Abstract:Objective To analyze the correlation between hemoglobin glycation index(HGI)and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndromes in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods A retrospective study was conducted to collect the clinical data of 175 T2DM patients admitted to the hospital from January 2020 to January 2023 using the electronic medical record system. The patient's TCM syndrome type was identified to Yin deficiency and heat syndrome,damp-heat trapping spleen syndrome,Qi and Yin deficiency syndrome, yin and yang deficiency syndrome, blood stasis and water stopping syndrome, blood stasis syndrome referred to the'Guiding Principles of Clinical Research on New Drugs of Chinese Medicines'.All patients were examined for glycated hemoglobin(HbAlc)and fasting blood glucose(FPG)levels at the last visit,HGI level of the patients was calculated, and clinical indicators and baseline data of patients were counted. The differences of HbAlc,FPG,HGI,clinical indexes and baseline data of patients with different syndromes were compared, and the correlation between HGI and TCM syndromes in patients with T2DM was analyzed. Results Among the 175 patients, there were 43 cases(24.57%)of yin deficiency and heat syndrome,34 cases(19.43%)of damp-heat trapping spleen syndrome,21 cases(12.00%)of Qi and Yin deficiency syndrome,39 cases(22.29%)of yin and yang deficiency syndrome, and blood stasis and water stopping syndrome, and 38 cases(21.71%)of blood stasis syndrome. There were statistically significant differences in HbAlc,FPG and HGI levels among patients with different syndrome types(P<0.05).The indexes were blood stasis syndrome>yin and yang deficiency syndrome, blood stasis and water stopping syndrome>Qi and yin deficiency syndrome>damp-heat trapping spleen syndrome>yin deficiency and heat syndrome.Spearman correlation test showed that HbAlc,FPG and HGI were all related to the TCM syndromes of T2DM(P<0.05).Conclusion The TCM syndromes of T2DM are closely related to HGI,also to HbAlc and FPG.
