Abstract:Objective To explore the self-transcendence status in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)patients undergoing chemotherapy and its impact on respiratory function. Methods A total of 130 NSCLC patients treated with chemotherapy in the hospital from January 2021 to December 2022 were prospectively recruited. The baseline data of all patients were collected in detail, and the level of self-transcendence was assessed with the Self Transcendence Scale(STS)before chemotherapy.Respiratory function, including the forced vital capacity(FVC),forced expiratory volume in the first second(FEV1),and maximum expiratory flow rate(PEF)were measured at the end of four courses of chemotherapy. The STS scores of patients with different baseline data were compared. The correlation between baseline data and self-transcendence was analyzed by point two column correlation. The correlation between self-transcendence and respiratory function was analyzed by Pearson correlation. Results Before chemotherapy, the STS score of 130 NSCLC patients was(36.87±8.62[15~58])points.Among them, there were 26 patients with≥45 points, accounting for 20.00%.There was no significant difference in STS scores among patients with different genders, ages, body mass index(BMI),disease types, degree of differentiation, smoking history, and drinking history(P>0.05).The STS scores of patients with staging Ⅳ,and education level of junior high school and below were significantly lower than those with staging Ⅲ and education level of senior high school and above(P<0.05).The results of point two column correlation analysis showed a negative correlation between the tumor, node, metastasis(TNM)staging and STS score(r<0,P<0.05).There was a positive correlation between educational level and STS score(r>0,P<0.05).At the end of four courses of chemotherapy, the FVC,FEV1,and PEF of 130 NSCLC patients were(1.81±0.37)L,(1.56±0.31)L,and(6.12±0.83)L/s,respectively.The Pearson correlation results showed that FVC,FEV1,and PEF were positively correlated with STS scores(r>0,P<0.05).Conclusion The self-transcendence level of NSCLC patients undergoing chemotherapy is at a low level, and the self-transcendence status can have a certain impact on respiratory function.
