Abstract:Objective To analyze the expressions of haptoglobin and α1 acidic glycoprotein in patients with viral hepatitis B and their correlation with the progression to liver cancer, thus providing empirical guidance for the prevention and treatment of liver cancer. Methods It was a retrospective study involving 65 patients with chronic hepatitis B who were treated in the hospital from January 2021 to December 2022(hepatitis B group),and 65 patients with liver cancer during the same period(liver cancer group). At the time of recruitment, the levels of haptoglobin and α1 acidic glycoprotein in the two groups were measured. The correlation of expression levels of haptoglobin and α1 acidic glycoprotein with the progression of viral hepatitis B to liver cancer was analyzed by the Point-biserial correlation analysis. The impact of haptoglobin and α1 acidic glycoprotein on the progression of viral hepatitis B to liver cancer was tested by the Logistic regression analysis. Results The proportion of liver fibrosis or cirrhosis in the liver cancer group was significantly higher than that in the hepatitis B group, and the positive proportion of hepatitis B e antigen(HBsAg)was significantly lower(P<0.05).The levels of alpha fetoprotein, haptoglobin, and α1 acidic glycoprotein in the liver cancer group were significantly higher than those of the hepatitis B group, while the levels of glutamic pyruvic transaminase(GPT),glutamic-oxalacetic transaminase(GOT),and hepatitis B viral(HBV)DNA load were significantly lower(P<0.05).The results of the Point-biserial correlation showed that haptoglobin and α1 acidic glycoprotein were positively correlated with the progression of hepatitis B to liver cancer(r>0,P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that elevated levels of haptoglobin and α1 acidic glycoprotein were risk factors for progression of hepatitis B to liver cancer(OR>1,P<0.05).Conclusion The levels of haptoglobin and α1 acidic glycoprotein are highly expressed in patients with hepatitis B progressing to liver cancer, and their higher levels predict a greater risk of hepatitis B progressing to liver cancer.
