Abstract:Objective To investigate the risk factors for the onset of retinal vein obstruction macular edema(RVO-ME)and its correlation with plasma homocysteine(Hcy). Methods A total of 74 patients(74 eyes)with RVO confirmed from January 2020 to January 2022 were selected as the control group, and 85 patients(85 eyes)with RVO-ME confirmed in the same period were selected as the experimental group.Baseline data were collected before enrollment. All subjects underwent optical coherence tomography(OCT),and examinations of visual acuity, intraocular pressure and slit lamp examination. The central macular thickness(CMT)was measured. The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)was performed to measure vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and inflammatory cytokines.Statistical processing was performed using the SPSS21.0 software.Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to find out the risk factors affecting RVO-ME,and the correlation between risk factors and plasma Hcy.Results Logistic regression analysis showed that age,CMT,interleukin-1beta(IL-1β),interleukin-6(IL-6),VEGF and Hcy were independent risk factors for the onset of RVO-ME(OR=5.268,5.623,6.514,8.562,3.264,and 6.598,respectively;P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that age,CMT,IL-1β,IL-6,VEGF were positively correlated with plasma Hcy levels(r=0.6892,0.8125,0.7534,0.7358,and 0.6580,respectively;P<0.001).Conclusion Age,CMT,IL-1β,IL-6,and VEGF are independent risk factors affecting the pathogenesis of RVO-ME,and they are positively correlated with plasma Hcy expression.
