Effects of immuned three oxygen autologous blood transfusion on incidence rate of postherpetic neuralgia in eldly patients with herpes zoster
Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of immuned three oxygen autologous blood transfusion on incidence rate of postherpetic neuralgia in eldly patients with herpes zoster, and to explore the effective method of preventing postherpetic neuralgia. Methods A total of 88 elderly patients over 60 years with herpes zoster were randomly divided into experimental group (n=44) and control group (n=44). The patients in experimental group were treated by immun three oxygen immune autologous blood transfusion combined with pregabalin capsules and famciclovir tablets, however, the patients in control group were treated by with pregabalin capsules and famciclovir tablets only. The visual analogue pain scale (VAS), duration of herpes zoster and occurrence of postherpetic neuralgia at 60 days after disease attack were observed and compared between the two groups before treatment and after 1, 2, 3 treatment courses. Results After treatment the VAS scores were significantly decreased in both groups, as compared with those before treatment (P<0. 05), moreover, which in experimental group after 1, 2, and 3 treatment courses were significantly lower than those in control group (P<0. 05). Moreover the duration of skin rash in experimental group was significantly shorter than that in control group (P<0. 01). In addition the incidence rate of postherpetic neuralgia at 60 days after disease attack in experimental group was significantly lower than that in control group (P<0. 05). Conclusion Immune three oxygen autologous blood transfusion treatment can significantly relieve the pains of patients with herpes zoster, shorten the duration of skin rash and reduce the incidence rate of postherpetic neuralgia, therefor, which is worthy of clinical application and popularization.
