Abstract:Objective To observe the clinical curative effects and pain control effects of calcium hydroxide paste combined with simple or combination appliaction of double antibiotic pastes ( ornidazole and minocycline) in root canal disinfection. Methods A total of 155 patients with periapical periodontitis were randomly divided into 3 groups: calcium hydroxide+double antibiotic paste group ( group A),calcium hydroxide paste group ( group B) and phenocamphor group ( group C). After 7-day treatment clinical curative effects and pain control effects were observed and compared among the three groups, moreover the healing rate after 6-month treatment was observed and compared among the three groups. Results After 7-day treatment the effective rate in group A ,B,C was 96. 4% , 87. 3% , 70. 9% ,respectively, the effective rate in group A and group B was significantly higher than that in group C (P<0. 05),however, there was no significant difference between group A and group B (P>0. 05). The incidence of pain in group A ,B,C was 15. 5% ,25. 5% ,41. 8% ,respectively, which in in group A was significantly lower than that in group B and group C (P<0. 05). Moreover after 6-month treatment the healing rate in group A ,B,C was 73. 5% ,60. 5% ,48. 9% ,respectively, which in group A and group B was significantly higher than that in group C (P <0. 05). Conclusion Ornidazole-minocycline double antibiotics combined with calcium hydroxide paste as a root canal disinfection drug have better therapeutic effects on periapical periodontitis, which can effectively control the pain control after treatment, therefor, which is worthy of clinical application and promotion.
