Therapeutic effects of community comprehensive rehabilitation on distal radius fractures in the elderly

Abstract：Objective To observe the therapeutic effects of community rehabilitation on functional rehabilitation of elderly patients with distal radius fractures Methods Sixty eight patients with distal radius fractures were randomly divided into observation group ( n =34) and control group ( n =34). The patients in observation group were treated by community comprehensive rehabilitation after hospital discharge, however, the patients in control group received oral counseling and demonstrated rehabilitation exercise, and followed up. The wrist range of motion (ROM),visual analogue scale ( VAS),arm shoulder hand dysfunction score (DASH), gripping force and GW score were observed and compared between the two groups at 3m and 6m after treatment. Results The ROM, VAS score, DASH score and gripping power and wrist function in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group at 3m and 6m after treatment( P ＜0. 05). Conclusion The community rehabilitation therapy can significantly improve wrist function of elderly patients with distal radius fractures and can effectively improve their gripping strength,thus,which is worth using in clinical practice.
