Study on the correlation between cytokines-IFN-γ and IL-2 and tuberculous pleurisy
Abstract:Objective To investigate the cellular immune status of patients with tuberculous pleurisy and its important role in the pathogenesis and development of tuberculous pleurisy in order to provide experimental evidence for clinical treatment and prevention of the disease. Methods The patients who were admitted and treated in our hospital from January 2014 to May 2014 were enrolled as study objects, including 50 cases of tuberculous pleurisy ( tuberculous pleurisy group) and 15 cases of non-tuberculous pleurisy (non-tuberculous pleurisy group),at the same time, the other 15 healthy sunjects were enrolled as control group. The levels of IFN-γand IL-2 in peripheral blood of healthy subjects and in peripheral blood and hydrothorax of patients were detected by flow cytometry. Results There were no significant differences in the levels of IFN-γand IL-2 in peripheral blood among the three groups (P>0. 05),however, there were significant differences between tuberculous pleurisy group and non-tuberculous pleurisy group (P<0. 01). Conclusion The cytokines levels including IFN-γ and IL-2 are significantly increased in pleural effusion of patients with tuberculous pleurisy, which suggests that local immune response is increased in the patients, moreover, which can provide references for clinical diagnosis and differential diagnosis of tuberculous pleurisy as well as patient's prognosis by detcting the levels of IFN-γ and IL-2.
