Therapeutic effects of selective radicular blocking combined with microcurrent stimulation on prolapse of lumbarintervertebral disc
Abstract:Objective To investigate the therapeutic effects of selective radicular blocking combined with transforaminal microcurrent stimulation under image guidance on prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc. Methods A total of 42 patients with prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc were randomly divided into radicular blocking group ( n =21 ) and microcurrent stimulation group ( n =21 ) . The patients radicular blocking group were treated by selective radicular blocking only, however, the patients in microcurrent stimulation group were treated by radicular blocking combined with microcurrent stimulation. After treatment the therapeutic effects were evaluated and compared between two groups according to Visual Analogue Scale score ( VAS) and the criteria of Japanese Orthopaedic Association for low back pain ( JOA score) . Results After treatment the VAS scores in every time points were significantly lower than those before operation (P<0. 05). Moreover after treatment the JOA scores in every time points were significantly higher than those before operation (P<0. 05). There were no significant differences in VAS and JOA scores at 3 days after operation between two groups (P>0. 05),however,there were significant differences in VAS and JOA scores at 1m,3m,6m,12m after operation between two groups (P <0. 05). Conclusion The transforaminal microcurrent stimulation combined with selective radicular blocking is an effective therapeutic method in treatment of prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc.
