Effects of different degrees of cerebral white matter lesions on cognitive function of patients with acute lacunar infarction
Abstract:Objective To explore the effects of different degrees of cerebral white matter lesions (WML) on cognitive function of patients with acute lacunar infarction. Methods Eighty one patients with acute lacunar infarction who were admitted and treated in our hospital were divided into four groups (WML0,WML1,WML2 and WML3) according to the degrees of WML,taking WML0 group as control group.Firstly, the data of patients at different lesion degrees were compared, then the levels of TG,TC,LDLC,FBG,Hcy,CRP,MMSE score and MoCA score were detected. Results The proportion of patients with acute lacunar infarction combined with hypertension in WML3 group were higher than that in group WML1 and significantly higher than that in control group (P < 0.05).However there were no significant differences in the levels of TG,TC,LDLC and FBG among the four groups (P > 0.05).HCY and CRP in WML2 group and WML3 group were significantly increased and there were significant differences between the two groups (P < 0.05).There were significant differences in the MMSE scores and MMSE total scores among the four groups (P < 0.05).And the MMSE scores in WML 3 group were significantly lower than those in WML0 group and WML1 group (P < 0.05).As compared with those in WML0 group and WML1 group, the MMSE total scores in WML2 group were significantly decreased.(P < 0.05).The MoCA scores in WML3 group were the lowest, which in control group were the highest. In addition,MoCA total scores in WML3 group were significantly lower than those in WML0 group and WML1 group (P < 0.05),moreover,which in WML2 group were significantly lower than those in WML0 group and WML1 group (P < 0.05).Besides the attention ability in WML1 group was significantly decreased,as compared that in WML0 group (P < 0.05).Conclusion Aacute lacunar infarction combined with WML have effects on the cognitive function of patients, and at early period,WML affects mainly attention ability, visual space and executive ability, and severe WML will affect overall cognitive ability of patients.
