Effects of early application of Qingrehuatanjiedu decoction on nerve defects in rats with experimental ischemic stroke
Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of early application of Qingrehuatanjiedu decoction on nerve defects in rats with experimental ischemic stroke. Methods The SD rat models with ischemic stroke were established by bilateral carotid ligation and intraperitoneal injection of sodium nitroprusside, then these rats were divided into sham operation group, ischemic model group, traditional Chinese medicine treatment group (Qingrehuatanjiedu decoction,TCM group), nimodipine control group. The dry and wet method was used to measure the water content of brain tissue, and HE staining was used to observe the morphological changes of brain tissues and the changes of nerve dysfunction scores in rats. Results As compared with that in sham operation group, the water content of cerebral tissues in ischemic model group was increased slowly in 24h after cerebral ischemia(P<0.05),however,there was no significant difference with that inTCM group and nimodipine group (P>0.05).However the water content of cerebral tissues in ischemic model group was increased significantly at 72h after cerebral ischemia, which was statistically different from that in 24h (P <0. 05). After treatment with Qingrehuatanjiedu decoction, the water content of cerebral tissues in TCM group was significantly decreased, there was significant difference at 72h after cerebral ischemia between TCM group and ischemic model group(P<0.05),at the same time, the water content of cerebral tissue in nimodipine control group was significantly lower than that in ischemic model group (P <0. 05). The interstitial edema around the capillaries of cerebral tissues at 72h after cerebral ischemia in TCM group and nimodipine control group was significantly relieved, meanwhile, nerve dysfunction scores were obviously improved in the two groups. Conclusion Qingrehuatanjiedu decoction can relieve brain edema in rats with acute ischemic stroke and improve cranial nerve function of rats.
