Therapeutic effects of adjuvant treatment of noninvasive ventilator on acute respiratory failure in the elderly

Abstract：Objective To investigate the therapeutic effects of adjuvant treatment of noninvasive ventilator on acute respiratory failure in the elderly.Methods A total of 124 elderly patients with acute respiratory failure who were admitted and treated in department of ICU of our hospital from January 2014 to January 2017 were randomly divided into control group and observation group,with 62 patients in each group. The patients in control group were given conventional treatment,however,the patients in observation group,on the basis of control group, were given adjuvant treatment of noninvasive ventilator. The clinical curative effects,blood gas indexes,oxidative stress indexes and life quality were observed and compared between the two groups.Results The total effective rate in observation group was 96.77%,which was significantly higher than that (72.58%) in control group,moreover,the fatality rate(1.61%) was significantly lower than that(12.90%) in control group (P<0.05). Before treatment,there were no significant differences in partial arterial pressure of O2 (PaO2),partial arterial pressure of CO2(PaCO2),malondialdehyde (MDA) levels, superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels and quality of life (QOL) between two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the levels of PaO2 and SOD were significantly increased in both groups, moreover,which in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group (P<0.05). After treatment,the levels PaCO2,MDA and QOL scores were obviously decreased in both groups, moreover,which in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group (P<0.05).Conclusion The adjuvant treatment of noninvasive ventilator can get satisfactory therapeutic effects on senile acute respiratory failure,which can obviously improve blood gas indexes and oxidative stress indexes,so as to improve quality of life of patients,therefor,which is worth using widely in clinical practice.
