Clinical study on the preventive effects of atorvastatin calcium combined with probucol on restenosis after vertebral artery stenting operation
Abstract:Objective To observe the effects of atorvastatin calcium combined with probucol on restenosis after vertebral artery stenting operation and its effects on high sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and oxidized low density lipoprotein (ox-LDL),and to evaluate the safety of the two drugs in clinical application and their effects in prevention of ischemic cerebrovascular disease. Methods A total of 60 patients with proximal atherosclerotic extracranial vertebral artery stenosis who underwent vertebral artery stent implantation were randomly divided into control group and observation group, with 30 patients in each group. The patients in control group were treated by oral atorvastatin calcium, however, the patients in observation group,on the basis of control group, were treated by oral probucol. The restenosis status was evaluated by cervical ultrasonography at 1,3,6 months after operation. In addition, the levels of serum lipid, hs-CRP and ox-LDL in peripheral blood were detected, moreover, the incidence rates of stroke events and adverse reactions were observed and compared between two groups. Results The restenosis rate at 6 months after operation in control group and observation group was 20% and 10.34%,respectively,which in control group was significantly higher than that in observation group(P<0.05). At 6m after operation, there were 3 cases of stroke incident in control group, however, which was not found in observation group, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). As compared with those in control group, the serum levels of hs-CRP, ox-LDL,TC,TG,LDL-C and HDL in observation group were significantly decreased (P <0.05). However there was no significant difference in drug safety evaluation between two groups (P >0. 05). Conclusion For the patients receiving vertebral artery stenting operation, atorvastatin calcium combined with probucol can significantly regulate the blood lipid levels of patients, reduce restenosis rate after operation, which can effectively decrease the relapse risk of patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease.
