Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of remote ischemic preconditioning on improvement state of pulmonary function and serum IL-8 levels in patients with esophageal cancer after radical operation. Methods A total of 97 patients with esophageal cancer who underwent radical operation in our hospital from February 2013 to May 2016 were randomly divided into observation group (n =44) and control group (n =53).The patients in observation group were treated by remote ischemic preconditioning during operation, however the patients in control group were not treated by remote ischemic preconditioning. The arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2),oxygenation index (PaO2/FiO2) and alveolar arterial oxygen partial pressure difference (A-aDO2) on 5min after intubation (T1),60min after one lung ventilation (T2),1Omin after double lung ventilation (T3) and at the end of surgery (T4) were observed and compared between two groups, moreover, the serum levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6),interleukin-8 (IL-8) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) were also detected and compared between two groups. Results The PaO2 levels at T2,T3 and T4 in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group (P < 0.05),however,the ratios of PaO2/FiO2 at T2,T3 and T4 in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group (P < 0.05),moreover,the A-aDO2 levels at T3 and T4 in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group (P < 0.05).Besides the serum levels of TNF-oα,IL-6 and IL-8 at T2,T3 and T4 in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group (P < 0.05),however,there was no signifucant difference in the incidence rate of postoperative complications between two groups (P > 0.05).Conclusion The application of remote ischemic preconditioning during esophageal cancer radical surgery can effectively reduce the inflammatory response of patients, which has a protective effect on lung tissue, thus, which needs to be researched further.
