Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of rinsing tooth socket after tooth extraction on the levels of interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β),interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF) in tooth socket liquid and in serum of patients with chronic periodontitis. Methods Ninety patients who underwent tooth extraction in our hospital from January 2014 to December 2015 were divided two groups by the method of throwing a coin:scoraping group (n=45) and rinsing group (n=45).The patients in scoraping group were treated by scoraping tooth crypt after tooth extraction, however, the patients in rinsing group were treated by scoraping tooth crypt plus rinsing tooth crypt with 1.0% hydrogen peroxide solution+0.9% sodium chloride solution, then the levels of IL-1β,IL-6,TNF-α in tooth socket liquid and in serum of patients were detected by ELISA.Results The levels of IL-1β,IL-6,TNF-α in serum of patients in scoraping group were significantly higher than those in rinsing group (P<0.05).Moreover the levels of IL-1β,IL-6,TNF-α in tooth socket liquid in scoraping group were significantly higher than those in rinsing group (P<0.05).The levels of IL-1β,IL-6,TNF-α in serum of patients after tooth extraction were positively correlated to those in tooth socket liquid (P<0.05).Conclusion To rinse tooth socket after tooth extraction in patients with chronic periodontitis is beneficial to relieve inflammatory reaction and to reduce the levels of inflammatory factors in serum and in dental alveoli liquids.
