Abstract:Objective To investigate the therapeutic effects of tiopronin combined with polyene phosphatidylcholine on non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and its role of anti-oxidative stress. Methods One hundred and sixty-five patients with NASH were randomly divided into treatment group, the first control group and the second control group, with 55 patients in each group. All the patients were treated by non-drug intervention measures. In addition to that, the patients in first control group were treated by oral tiopronin (2 tablets once, three times a day). The patients in second control group were treated by oral polyene phosphatidylcholine capsule (456mg once, three times a day). However the patients in treatment group were treated by tiopronin combined with polyene phosphatidylcholine. After 3-month treatment the therapeutic effects, liver function and blood lipid levels were observed for the three groups, moreover, the serum levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD),glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and malondialdehyde (MDA) were detected, besides, the adverse reactions during treatment were observed and compared among the three groups. Results After treatment, the levels of ALT,AST,GGT,HDL in treatment group were significantly lower than those in first control group and second control group, moreover, the levels of LDL,TG and TC were significantly lower than those in first control group and second control group (P<0.01).The total effective rate in treatment group was 94.55%,which was significantly higher than that in first control group (78.18%) and second treatment group (76.36%) (P<0.05).After treatment the serum levels of SOD and GSH-Px in treatment group were obviously higher than those in first control group and second control group, however MDA levels were significantly lower than those in first control group and second control group (P<0.01).Besides no obvious adverse reactions were observed in the three groups. Conclusion The tiopronin combined with polyene phosphatidylcholine has obvious therapeutic effects on non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, with good safety, which can increase anti-oxidation stress ability of patients.
