Analysis for the diagnostic effect of transvaginal ultrasonography and hysteroscopy in diagnosis of endometrial lesions in elderly women
Abstract:Objective To investigate the diagnostic effect of transvaginal ultrasonography and hysteroscopy in diagnosis of endometrial lesions in elderly women in order to provide reference for clinical diagnosis. Methods One hundred and four patients with suspected endometrial lesions who were examined in our hospital from May 2014 to August 2016 were enrolled in the study. All the patients underwent hysteroscopy and transvaginal ultrasound examination, and the examination results were compared between the two examination methods. Results Among 104 patients, 94 patients were diagnosed as endometrium abnormality by pathological diagnosis (90. 38%). The total coincidence rates by hysteroscopy in diagnosis of chronic nonspecific endometritis, normal endometrium, endometrial polyps were significantly higher than those by transvaginal B ultrasonography (P<0. 05), however, there were no significant differences in diagnosis coincidence rates of endometrial atrophy, early endometrial carcinoma, submucosal myoma, endometrial hyperplasia between hysteroscopy and transvaginal B ultrasound examination (P >0. 05). Moreover the sensitivity, specificity and negative predictive value of hysteroscopy in diagnosis of endometrial lesions were significantly higher than those of transvaginal B ultrasonography (P<0. 05). Conclusion Hysteroscopy and transvaginal B ultrasound examination can be regarded as effective method in diagnosis of endometrial lesions in elderly women, furthermore, transvaginal B ultrasound has the advantages of easy operation, without trauma, however, hysteroscopy has higher sensitivity, accuracy and detection rate, therefor, the two methods can be chosen according to different demands.
