Therapeutic effects of ultraviolet combined with TCM differentiating zheng on palmoplantar pustulosis
Abstract:Objective To observe the therapeutic effects of traditional Chinese medicine ( TCM) soaking and washing combined with narrow spectrum ultraviolet on palmoplantar pustulosis and their effects on T lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood of patients with palmoplantar pustulosis. Methods Sixty-four patients with palmoplantar pustulosis were randomly divided into two groups: TCM group and combination treatment group. The patients in TCM group were treated only by self-made external use TCM,however, the patients in combination treatment group,on the basis of TCM group, were treated by narrow spectrum ultraviolet, with a treatment course of 4 weeks for 2 treatment courses in both groups. The therapeutic effects and the expression levels of CD3+,CD4+,CD8+ were detected on 4w,8w after treatment for both groups. Results After 4-week treatment, the effective rate in TCM group and combination treatment group was 53. 13%, 71. 88%, respectively, there was a significant differnce between two groups ( P < 0. 05 ). After 8-week treatment, the effective rate in TCM group and combination treatment group was 68. 75%, 90. 63%, respectively, there was a significant differnce between two groups ( P <0. 05). After 8-week treatment, the proportion of CD4+ cells, CD4+ /CD8+ cells in combination treatment group was significantly higher than that in TCM group ( P <0. 05). Conclusion The TCM soaking and washing combined with narrow spectrum ultraviolet has obvious therapeutic effects on palmoplantar pustulosis, with better safety and few adverse reactions.
