Study on the changes and significance of bone metabolic indexes and bone mineral density in patients with Graves ophthalmopathy
Abstract:Objective To investigate the changes and significance of bone metabolic indexes and bone mineral density in patients with Graves ophthalmopathy (GO).Methods A total of 60 patients with GO who were admitted and treated in our hospital from May 2014 to October 2016 were selected as GO group, who were redivided into mild GO group (n=18) and severe GO group (n=42),moreover, the other 40 healthy subjects were served as control group. The bone metabolic indexes (Ca2+),osteocalcin (BGP),bone alkaliine phsphatase (BAP),total procollagen type 1 N-terminal propeptide (PINP),β-collagen special sequences (β-Cross laps), bone mineral density (BMD) in lumbar vertebrae (L2~4),femoral neck, Ward's triangle and trochanter major were detected and compared among the three groups. Results The serum levels of Ca2+,BGP,BAP,PINP and β-Crosslaps in GO group were significantly increased,as compared with those in control group, moreover, which in severe GO group were significantly higher than those in mild GO group (P<0.05).The levels of BMD in lumbar 2~4 (L2~4),femoral neck,Ward's triangle and trochanter region in GO group were significantly decreased,as compared with those in control group, moreover, which in severe GO group were significantly lower than those in mild GO group (P<0.05).The correlation analysis showed that Ca2+,BGP,BAP,PINP and β-Crosslaps were negatively correlated to BMD (P<0.05).Besides the incidence rates of osteopenia and osteoporosis in GO group were significantly higher than those in control group, furthermore, which in severe Go group were significantly higher than those in mild GO group (P<0.05).Conclusion GO can result in high-turnover osteoporosis, thus, the active detection of bone metabolic indexes and BMD plays an important role in prevention, treatment and severity evaluation of osteoporosis.
