Preventive effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs medication before phacoemulsification on cystoid macular edema

Abstract：Objective The observe the preventive effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs medication before phacoemulsification on cystoid macular edema .Methods One hundred and twenty patients with cataract who were treated in our hospital from February 2014 to August 2015 were divided into control group ( n =60) and observation group ( n =60) by means of sortition method .The patients in both groups were treated by phacoemulsification ,then the patients in control group were treated by tobramycin and dexamethasone ophthalmic solution ,however ,the patients in observation group ,on the basis of control group , were treated by pranoprofen ophthalmic solution .The incidence rates of cystoid macular edema , aqueous flare classification,foveal thickness,intraocular pressure,signs and symptoms composite scores were observed and compared between two groups.Results On 7d and 14d after surgery, incidence rate of cystoid macular edema in observation group was significantly lower than that in control group (3.33%vs 6.67%, P <0.05) and (13.33%vs 20.00%, P <0.05).On 7d and 14d after surgery,the aqueous flare classification in observation group was superior to that in control group ( P <0.05). On 14d after surgery,the foveal thickness [(129.76 ±11.75)μm)], IOP [(15.72 ±2.08)mm Hg],signs and symptoms composite scores [(14.61 ±2.15)points] in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group [(137.80 ± 13.24)μm], [(16.95 ±2.20) mm Hg],[(17.84 ±2.23) points],respectively ( P <0.05).Conclusion The non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs medication before phacoemulsification can effectively reduce the incidence rate of cystoid macular edema ,and it is beneficial to the recovery of patients ,therefor ,which is worth using widely in clinical practice .
