Effects of menantine hydrochloride on cognition ability and life ability of patients with PDD
Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of menantine hydrochloride on cognition ability and life ability of patients with Parkinson's disease dementia (PDD).Methods One hundred and four patients who were treated in our hospital from February 2013 to December 2015 were randomly divided into observation group ( n =52) and control group ( n =52). The patients in control group were treated by donepezil hydrochloride tablets ,however, the patients in observation group,on the basis of control group, were treated by memantine hydrochloride .The evaluation results by Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Daily life Ability Barthell Index assessment (Barthel indexes) were compared between two groups. Moreover the inflammatory factors levels including TNF -α, IL-2,IFN-γwere detected and compared between two groups. Results On 4w,8w,16w after treatment, the MoCA scores and MMSE scores in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group ( P <0.05).Before treatment there were no significant differences in Barthel indexes between two groups ( P >0.05).However after treatment the Barthel indexes in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group ( P <0.05).After treatment the serum levels of IL-1β,TNF-αwere obviously decreased, as compared with those before treatment ( P <0.05),however, there were no significant changes in the seum levels of IL -2 and IFN-γ( P >0.05),moreover,there were no significant changes in the seum levels of the inflammatory factors in control group before and after treatment ( P >0.05).Besides there were no significant differences in the incidence rates of adverse reactions between two groups ( P >0.05).Conclusion Memantine hydrochloride can effectively improve cognition ability and life ability of patients with PDD,at the same time, which can inhibit local and systemic inflammatory responses ,with good safety and reliability.
