Therapeutic effects of montelukast combined with Reduning on upper airway cough syndrome and its influence on immune function of patients

Abstract：Objective To observe the therapeutic effects of montelukast combined with Reduning on upper airway cough syndrome ( UACS) and its influence on immune function of patients .Methods Seventy patients with UACS who were treated in our hospital from May 2012 to December 2015 were randomly divided into observation group an dcontrol group ,with 35 patients in each group .The patients in control group were treated by montelukast , however , the patients in observation group,on the basis of control group , were treated by Reduning .The therapeutic effects , the changes of serum levels of interleukin (IL)-4,IL-12,interferon (INF)-γ,TNF-α,CD3+,CD4+,CD8+ and CD4+/CD8+ before and after treatment were observed and compared between two groups .Results The total effective rate in observation group was 97.14%,which was significantly higher than that (77.14%) in control group (χ2 =4.590, P <0.05).Before treatment,there were no significant differences in the levels of dry cough ,sore throat,itchy throat and nasal obstruction scores between two groups ( P >0.05), after treatment the levels of these symptoms were significantly decreased in both groups ( P <0.01), moreover, the decrease extent in observation group was more obvious than that in control group ( P <0.01).Before treatment,there were no significant differences in the serum levels of IL-4,INF-γ,TNF-α,IL-12,CD3+,CD4+,CD8+and CD4+/CD8+between two groups ( P >0.05),however,after treatment the serum levels of IL-4,INF-γ,CD3+,CD8+were significantly increased ( P <0.01), however, the serum levels of TNF-α,IL-12,CD4+and ratio of CD4+/CD8+were significantly decreased ,as compared with those before treatment ( P <0.01), moreover, the increase or decrease extent in observation group was more obvious than that in control group ( P <0.01).Conclusion The therapeutic effects of montelukast combined with Reduning on upper airway cough syndrome are quite obvious , and its action mechanism may be related with correcting Th 1/Th2 shift and improving immune function of organism .
