The diagnostic value of transvaginal color Doppler ultrasound in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome

Abstract：Objective To use transvaginal color Doppler ultrasound technique ( TV-CDU ) to detect the uterus , stroma of ovary and haemodynamics of helicine arteries around endomembrane in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome ( PCOS) in order to provide clinical reference indexes for diagnosis and treatment of PCOS .Methods Eighty-six patients with PCOS who were admitted and treated form August 2012 to December 2015 were selected as study group ,at the same time, 27 patients with infertility were selected as control group .The uterus , stroma of ovary and haemodynamics indexes of helicine arteries around endomembrane were detected by TV-CDU.Results The PI and RI of uterine arteries in both sides in study group were significantly higher those in control group ( P <0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that the PI and RI in right side uterine artery in study group were negatively correlated to PRL ( r =-0.213, r =-0.216,respectively, P <0.05).The ovarian volume in study group was increased obviously ,as compared with that in control group , moreover, there were more than 12 small follicles around ovaries , with more blood vessels within ovarian stroma .The PI and RI of ovarian stromal arteries in two sides in study group were significantly lower than those in control group ( P <0.01).Pearson correlation analysis showed that the PI and RI in right side ovarian stromal artery in study group were negatively correlated with LH ( r =-0.228, r =-0.206, P <0.05),moreover,which were negatively correlated to LH/FSH ( r =-0.268, r =-0.268,respectively, P <0.01).There were significant differences in PI and RI in helicine arteries around endomembrane between the two groups ( P <0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that the PI and RI in helicine arteries around endomembrane were not related with biochemical indicators ( P >0.05).Conclusion The color Doppler ultrasonography not only can directly observe the morphology of uterus and appendixes of patients with PCOS ,but also can dynamically monitor the blood supply status and haemodynamics ,which has an important clinical application value in diagnosis and treatment of PCOS .
