Therapeutic effects and safety of different ways in treatment of mild or moderate asthma in children
Abstract:Objective To investigate the therapeutic effects and safety of routine seretide , routine montelukast and non-normalization medication on mild or moderate asthma in children .Methods One hundred and twenty children patients with mild or moderate asthma who were admitted and treated in our hospital from June 2013 to June 2014 were divided into group A,group B and group C according to random number table ,with 40 patients in each group .The patients in group A and group B were treated respectively by routine seretide or routine montelukast according to GINA standards ,however ,the patients in group C were treated by short-term inhalation of fluticasone propionate only when they had symptoms .The improvement state, symptom controlling status ,treatment expense and safety were observed and compared among the three groups on 6m, 12m,18m after treatment. Results On 6m,12m,18m after treatment the lung function indexes in group A and group B were significantly improved,as compared with baseline value ( P <0.05),however, there were no significant differences between group A and group B ( P >0.05).On 12m,18m after treatment the airway hyperresponsiveness in group A was significantly lower than that in group B ( P <0.05), however, the indexes in group C were not obviously improved ,as comapred with baseline value ( P >0 .05 ) .The incidence rates of mild cough asthma attacks , emergency infusion and hospitalization person-time in group A and group B were significantly lower than those in group C ( P <0.05), moreover, after 18-month treatment, the incidence rates of emergency infusion and hospitalization person -time in group A were significantly lower than those in group B ( P <0.05).Besides there was no significant difference in the speed of growth in stature among the three groups ( P >0.05).Conclusion The normalization application of seretide and montelukast can effectively control asthma symptoms in children, relieve airway hyperresponsiveness ,improve lung function. Moreover seretide is superior to montelukast in relieving airway hyperresponsiveness .
