Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical manifestations and imaging features in mild encephalitis or encephalopathy complicated by corpus callosum reversible lesions. Methods The clinical data and imaging data about 6 patients with mild encephalitis or encephalopathy complicated by corpus callosum reversible lesions who were treated in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed, moreover, Oxford Handicap Rating Scales ( OHS) scoring was performed. Results Among 6 patients, there were 4 adult patients, 1 chidren patient and 1 infantile patient. The initial symptoms in adult patients included coma, headache, vomiting, consciousness disorders, hypersomnia, hallucinations,of whom one patient had a history of epilepsy. The chidren patient had vomiting, and infantile patient had fever complicated by neurological symptoms. The magnetic resonance imaging ( MRI) examination results showed that the corpus callosum lesions were class curved or round, among the 6 patients,4 patients were involved only the corpus callosum abnormal signal,2 adult patients had the lesions outside the corpus callosum, moreover, diffusion weighted imaging ( DWI) and T2W1 showed a height limiting signal, and fluid attenuated inversion recovery ( Flair ) showed a schistic slightly higher signal. After treatment the clinical symptoms in 6 patients were alleviated or disappeared, and corpus callosum abnormal signals were all disappeared according to the rechecking results by MRI.The four patients had good prognoses, however, the other two patients with corpus callosum outside lesions had bad prognoses, moreover, the OHS scores in good prognosis group were significantly higher than those in bad prognosis group (P<0.05).Conclusion The incidence rates of mild encephalitis or encephalopathy complicated by corpus callosum reversible lesions are lower, without specific clinical manifestations, thus, which can be diagnosed by combination magnetic resonance imaging, moreover, most of patients may have better prognoses after treatment.
