Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression and significance of miR-146b in papillary thyroid carcinoma of the coastal residents. Methods The tumor specimens and normal tissues beside tumor from 50 patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma who underwent surgical resection were collected in The First Hospital of Dandong City from January 1,2012 to January 1,2015.The expression levels of miR-146b in 50 cases of papillary thyroid carcinoma tissues and normal tissues beside tumor were detected by RT-PCR.Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to evaluate the survival status of patients. Moreover the correlation between relative expression levels of miR-146b and clinicopathological characteristics of papillary thyroid carcinoma was analyzed. Results The median and full range of miR-146b expression levels in papillary thyroid carcinoma tissues were 1.545 (0.442,2.881, respectively), which were significantly higher than those [1.078 (0.312,2.665, respectively)] in adjacent normal tissues ( Z =-2.999, P <0.01).The high -expression of miR-146b was the risk factors of tumor size, tumor capsular invasion, lymph node metastasis and TNM advanced stage (Ⅲ +Ⅳ) ( P <0.05).However patient’s sex and age, focus number were not related with the expression levels of miR-146b ( P >0.05).There were no significant differences in the survival rates among the patients with different expression levels of miR-146b ( P >0.05). Conclusion The high-expressions of miRNA-146b exist in papillary thyroid carcinoma tissues of the coastal residents, which are closely correlated to the pathogenesis, development, invasion and metastasis of papillary thyroid carcinoma.
