Effects of Xueshuantong capsule combined with fundus oculi laser on the serum levels of NOS,VEGF and IL-6 in patients with diabetic retinopathy macular edema

Abstract：Objective To observe the effects of Xueshuantong capsule combined with fundus oculi laser on nitric oxide synthase (NOS),vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF),interleukin-6 (IL-6) in patients with diabetic retinopathy macular edema.Methods One hundred patients with with diabetic retinopathy macular edema who were admitted and treated in our hospital from October 2014 to October 2015 were divided into observation group ( n =50) and control group ( n =50) according to random digits table.The patients in control group were treated by laser with ophthalmology laser machine, however,the patients in observation group,on the basis of control group,were given Xueshuantong capsule at an interval of 7 days.After treatment,the serum levels of NOS,VEGF and IL-6 were detected,moreover, the changes of ocular region status, macula lutea fluorescence, hemorrhage area as well as therapeutic effects were observed and compared between two groups. Results After treatment, NOS(109.40 ±16.42)U/ml in observation group was supeior to that (68.47 ±10.02)U/ml in control group,and the serum levels of VEGF (95.60 ±57.02),IL-6 (16.93 ±5.70)pg/ml were significantly lower than those (235.97 ±70.01,32.68 ±9.60 pg/ml,respectively) in control group ( P <0.05).The visual acuity (0.70 ±0.16) in observation group was superior to that (0.56 ±0.26) in control group,and microangioma count(10.63 ±2.12)was less than that (15.78 ±3.68) in control group ( P <0.05).The fluorescence area in macular region and fundus hemorrhage area (0.61 ±0.16,0.46 ±0.11,respectively)in observation group were significantly less than those (0.70 ±0.20,0.59 ±0.16, respectively) in control group (P <0.05).The total effective rate [94.00% (47 /50)] in observation group was significantly higher than that [62.00% (31/50)] in control group ( P <0.05).Conclusion The Xueshuantong capsule has obvious therapeutic effects on diabetic retinopathy macular edema, which can effectively improve the levels of NOS, IL-6 and VEGF, thus,which is worth using widely in clinical practice.
