Abstract:Objective To observe the therapeutic effects of Montelukast sodium tablets on inflammatory factors and cough in children patients with acute upper respiratory tract infection .Methods Eighty children patients with acute upper respiratory tract infection who were admitted and treated in our hospital from January 2014 to December 2014 were randomly divided into trial group ( n =40 ) and control group ( n =40 ) .The patients in both groups received routine examination , moreover , the patients in control group were given antitussive agents and expectorants ,however ,the patients in control group , on the basis of control group , were given Montelukast sodium tablets .After treatment the improvement state of symptoms and the changes of different parameters were observed and compared between two groups .Results The scores of cough in both groups after 6-day treatment and after 9-day treatment were significantly decreased ,as compared with those before treatment ( P <0.05), moreover, the degree of decrease in trial group was significantly obvious than that in control group ( P <0.05).The recovery time of cough in trial group was significantly shorter than that in control group ( P <0.05).In addition, the improvement state of symptoms in trial group after 9 -day treatment was significantly higher than that in control group (P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the levels of proinflammatory factors and immune parameters before treatment between two groups ( P >0.05), however, after treatment, these parameters were changed significantly ( P <0.05), moreover, the changes in trial group were more obvious than those in control group ( P <0.05).The total effective rate in trial group was significantly higher than that in control group (90%vs 77.5%, P <0.05).Conclusion Montelukast sodium tablets in adjunctive treatment of acute upper respiratory tract infection in children can obviously improve clinical symptoms , shorten obviously time of therapy and enhance total effective rate , thus ,it is worth spreading application in clinic .
