Effect of short-term intensive insulin treatment on blood glucose, blood lipid and islet function in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of short-term intensive insulin treatment on glucose , lipid and islet function in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus .Methods A total of 88 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were randomly divided into observation group ( n =44) and control group ( n =44).The Patients in both groups were treated by conventional oral hypoglycemic drugs ,however, the patients in observation group ,on the basis of control group ,were treated by short-term intensive insulin .The levels of blood glucose , blood lipid and islet function before and after treatment were detected and compared between two groups .Results After treatment, the levels of FPG,2 h PG,HbA1c in both groups were obviously decreased, especially in observation group ( P <0.05).After treatment, the levels of TG,TC,LDL-C in both groups were obviously decreased , however , the levels of HDL-C were obviously increased , as compared with those before treatment , moreover, the differences in observation group were more significant than those in control group ( P <0.05).After treatment, the HOMA-IR in both groups was obviously decreased ,however, HOMA-βand FINS were obviously increased ,as compared with those before treatment, especially in observation group ( P <0.05).Conclusion The short-term intensive insulin treatment can obviously improve blood glucose ,blood lipid and islet function of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus .
