Effects of postoperative radiothreapy on cytokines in peripheral blood of patients with thymo ma complicated by myasthenia gravis
Abstract:Obejctive To observe the changes of IL-4, IL-17, IFN-γbefore and after radiotherapy in patients with thymoma complicated by myasthenia gravis (MG) ,and to explore the correlation between these cytokines and pathogenesis of MG.Methods The levels of IL-4, IL-17, IFN-γin peripheral blood were detected by flow cytometry in 39 patients with MG (MG group), 24 patients with thymoma without MG (NMG group) and 25 healthy subjects (control group). Results Before radiotherapy, the levels of IL-4, IL-17, IFN-γin MG group were significantly higher than those in NMG group and control group ( P <0.05).On 30 days after radiotherapy, the levels of IL-4 and IFN-γin MG group were obviously decreased,as compared with those before radiotherapy ( P <0.01),however,there were no significant differences in the levels of IL -17 beforeand after radiotherapy ( P >0.05).Conclusion IL-4 and IL-17 play an important role in the pathogenesis of MG , and the decrease of levels of IL4-and IFN-γcan be regarded as significant index for immunotherapy .
