Abstract:Objective To study retrospectively clinicopathological characteristics of patients with squamous carcinoma of the cervix and the effects of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) on patients’ prognosis. Methods The clinical data about 77 cases of primary squamous carcinoma of cervix were collected and analyzed, moreover, the expression levels of COX-2 protein were detected by immunohistochemistry ( SP) to explore the influencing factors on prognosis of squamous carcinoma of the cervix. Results The 5-year overall survival rate was 74.03%(57/77) .The survival analysis showed that histological grades, clinical staging, lymph node metastasis,latero-uterus infiltration, vessel tumor embolus, muscular-invasive depth and COX-2 affected significantly the prognosis of patients with squamous carcinoma of the cervix ( P <0.05).Conclusion The histological grades, clinical staging, lymph node metastasis,latero-uterus infiltration, vessel tumor embolus, muscular-invasive depth and COX-2 are independent prognostic factors of squamous carcinoma of the cervix.
