Selection of radiotherapy opportunity of stage Ⅲ non-small cell lung cancer complicated by secondary pulmonary tuberculosis
Abstract:Objective To investigate the radiotherapy opportunity of stage Ⅲ non-small cell lung cancer ( NSCLC) complicated by secondary pulmonary tuberculosis. Methods The data of 78 patients with stage Ⅲ NSCLC complicated by secondary pulmonary tuberculosis who were hospitalized and received radiotherapy in Hebei Provincial Chest Hospital from January 2005 to December 2011 were retrospective analyzed. These patients were divided into early radiotherapy group ( n =42) who received radiotherapy after 1~2 week anti-tuberculosis treatment and late radiotherapy group ( n =36) who received radiotherapy after 1 ~2 month anti-tuberculosis treatment, The therapeutic effects and adverse reactions were observed and compared between two groups. Results The tuberculosis absorption rates in early radiotherapy group and late radiotherapy group were 73.8%and 88.9%,respectively, stability rates were 26.2% and 11.1%, respectively, and deterioration rates were 0%in both groups, there were no significant differences between two groups ( P >0.05).The 1-year, 2-year, 3-year survival rates in early radiotherapy group and late radiotherapy group were 66.7%, 42.9%, 19.0% and 63.9%, 16.7%, 2.8%,respectively (χ2 =3.958, P <0.05).Conclusion It is reasonable to begin the radiotherapy for stage Ⅲ non-small cell lung cancer complicated by secondary pulmonary tuberculosis after 1 ~2 week anti-tuberculosis treatment, which can prolong patient’ s total survival rates, without resulting in tuberculosis spreading.
