Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation between expression of Livin and VEGF in osteosarcoma and patient’s prognosis. Methods The expression levels of Livin,VEGF mRNA and proteins were detected by RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry(SP)in 58 cases of osteosarcoma and 35 cases of osteochondroma. Results The expression levels of Livin,VEGF mRNA and proteins in osteosarcoma were significantly higher than those in osteochondroma, moreover, which were correlated to the infiltration and distant metastasis of tumor soft tissues( P < 0. 05),however,which were not related with patient’s age, gender, tumor size, pathological typing and Enneking staging( P > 0. 05). The expression of Livin was positively correlated to that of VEGF in osteosarcoma( r = 0. 822,P < 0. 01). The survival rate and average survival time in patients with positive expression of Livin and VEGF were significantly lower than those of patients with negative expression of Livin and VEGF. The expression of Livin was closely correlated to that of VEGF in osteosarcoma( r = 0. 822,P < 0. 01). Conclusion The high-expression of Livin and VEGF is closely correlated with infiltration and metastasis of tumors, which suggests poor prognosis. Both of them can be regarded as the molecular indexes of treatment target and prognosis evaluation in the treatment of osteosarcoma.
