The correlation between RANTES gene polymorphism and the onset risk of tuberculous empyema
Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation between RANTES-403G/A and-28C/G single nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs) and the onset risk of tuberculous empyema (TE) in Hebei Province,China. Methods The gene types of SNPs of RANTES-403G/A and-28C/G were detected by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) in 300 patients with tuberculous empyema (patient group) and 300 healthy subjects (control group). Results There were significant differences in genotype frequency and allele frequency of RANTES-403G /A SNP between the two groups (P =0.004,0.008,respectively).As compared with GG genotype, the AG +GG genotype could increase the onset risk of tuberculous empyema (OR =1.403 95%,CI =1.015 ~1.939).However there were no significant differences in genotype frequency and allele frequency of RANTES-28C/G between the patient group and control group ( P =0.128, 0.064, respectively). As compared with the CC genotype, the CG +GG genotype was not correlated to onset risk of TE (OR =1.314 95%,CI =0.891 ~1.936).Conclusion The RANTES-403G/A SNP may be correlated to onset risk of TE,carrying G allele (AG +GG) may increase onset risk of TE.However 28C/G SNP may be not related with onset risk of TE.
