Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between serum interleukin-1β and insulin resistance in gestational diabetes mellitus. Methods Sixty -five cases of gestational diabetes mellitus ( GDM group ) and 55 cases of non-diabetic controls (NC group) were enrolled in the study. The levels of IL-1βwere detected,at the same time, medical history was collected, physical examination was performed, the levels of fasting blood glucose, fasting insulin, blood-fat, IL-1βwere detected, and insulin resistance index was calculated according to HOMA-IR model formula. The correlation between two factors was analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis and multiple variables analysis was performed by means of multiple stepwise regression analysis. Results The Fins,HOMA-IR indexes in GDM group were increased,as compared with those in NC group ( P <0.05),however, HOMA-βindex was significantly lower than that in NC group ( P <0.05).The levels of fasting plasma IL-1βin GDM group were significantly higher than those in NC group ( P <0.01).The correlation analysis showed that HOMA-IR indexes were positively correlated to IL-1β,SBP,DBP,Fins,FPG,TC,TG,LDL-C and apo-B ( P <0.05),however,which were negatively related with HDL-C ( P <0.05).After correction of the effects of WHR and BMI, HOMA-IR indexes were positively correlated to IL-1β,DBP,Fins,FPG,TC,TG and LDL-C ( P <0.05),however,which were negatively related with HDL-C ( P <0.05).Conclusion The enhancement of plasma levels of IL-1βin GDM can reflect the degree of insulin resistance indirectly.
