Effect of telmisartan on the adiponectin expression in mice with viral myocarditis

Abstract：Objective To investigate the effect of telmisartan on the expression levels of adiponectin,tumor necrosis factor-α( TNF-α) in mice with viral myocarditis.Methods The animal models with viral myocarditis were induced by Coxsackie B3 virus in 60 mice in which 30 mice were given telmisartan by gavage from the day of viral infection for 7 days ( observation group ) ,however,the other 30 mice without drug intervention were served as control group,and the other 10 mice without viral infection and without drug intervention were served as blank control group.The myocardial pathological changes and pathological score were observed,and the levels of serum adiponectin and TNF-αwere detected for three groups by double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immune method.Results The serum levels of adiponectin in observation group were significantly higher than those of control group,however,the serum levels of TNF-αand pathological score were obviously lower than those in control group ( P <0.05).As compared with those in blank control group,the levels of adiponectin,TNF-α, pathological score in observation group were significantly increased ( P <0.05).As compared with those in blank control group,the serum levels of adiponectin in control group were significantly decreased,however,the levels of TNF-α,pathological score were significantly increased ( P <0.05 ) .The myocardial edema, inflammatory cells infiltration, myocardial cell degeneration and necrosis were found in control group at 7 days after viral infection,however,these changes were obviously. Conclusion Telmisartan can increase the expression levels of adiponectin having protective effects on heart,and can decrease the levels of TNF-α,thus which can relieve myocardial injury.
