Abstract:Objective To observe the effects of ceftriaxone ( Cef) on chronic neuropathic pain after sciatic nerve ligation ( CCI) .Method s Sixty male Spague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into sham-operation group;CCI group;Cef prevention group;Cef treatment group, at the same time, the rats who were injected intraperitoneally with NS were used as control group, with 10 rats in each group.Thermal withdrawal latency and mechanical withdrawal threshold were measured at 1, 3,5,7, 9,11 and 14 days after operation.Resutl s The CCI induced thermal hyperalgesia and mechanical allodynia in rats.In Cef prevention group, the thermal withdrawal latency at 5, 7 days and mechanical withdrawal threshold in the hindpaw ipsilateral to CCI at 7 days after operation were obviously prolonged,as compared with those in NS control group and CCI group ( P <0.05).In Cef treatment group, the thermal withdrawal latency at 11,14 days after operation, and mechanical withdrawal threshold in the hindpaw ipsilateral to CCI at 14 days after operation were significantly prolonged,as compared with those in NS control group and CCI group( P <0.05).Conclusion Cef has preventive and therapeutic effects on chronic neuropathic pain.
