Study on the correlation between combined detection of VEGF, MVD, Ki-67 and clinical pathological characteristics of colorectal carcinoma as well as patient’ s prognosis
Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression and the prognostic significance of vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF) ,microvessel density ( MVD) and Ki-67 in colorectal carcinoma. Methods The expression levels of VEGF, MVD and Ki-67 were detected by immunohistochemistry in 64 cases of colorectal carcinoma, and the correlation between their expressions and clinical pathological characteristics and prognosis of colorectal carcinoma was analyzed. Results The results by immunohistochemical staining showed that there were significant differences in the expression levels of VEGF MVD and Ki-67 in different Dukes stages, with or without lymph node metastasis ( P <0.05),there were significant differences in the expression levels of MVD in different differentiation degree ( P <0.05).However the expressions of VEGF,MVD and Ki-67 were not related with patient’s age and sex, tumor’s size and position ( P >0.05),moreover,the expression levels of VEGF and Ki-67 were positively correlated to those of MVD, and the expression of VEGF and MVD was correlated to patient ’ s prognosis. Conclusion The expressions of VEGF,MVD,Ki-67 are related with Dukes staging, lymph node metastasis, tumor differentiation degree. The expression of VEGF and MVD is correlated to prognosis of patients with colorectal carcinoma, which can be regarded as reference parameters for evaluating patient’ s prognosis.
