Effect of Xueshuantong and butylphthalide on serum inflammatory factors and prognosis ofp atients with cerebral infarction

Abstract：Objective To investigate the effect of Xueshuantong and butylphthalide on serum inflammatory factors and prognosis of patients with cerebral infarction .Methods One hundred and eighty patients with acute cerebral infarction were randomly divided into three groups ,control group ,Xueshuantong group and butylphthalide group ,with 60 patients in each group.The patients in control group received conventional therapy ,however,the patients in Butylphthalide group ,on the basis of control group , were given Butylphthalide 100 ml intravenously , twice a day , and the patients in Xueshuantong group were given 0.9%NaCl 250ml intravenously,once a day,with a treatment course of 7 days for three groups.The serum levels of IL-2 and CGRP were detected before and after treatment , and carotid plaque thickness and size , intima-media thickness were detected by ultrasonic testing before treatment and 90 days after follow-up.The NIHSS, Barthel and MRS scoring were performed for all the patients after 90-day follow-up.Results There were significant differences in the levels of IL-2 and CGRP before and after treatment in the three groups ( P <0.05),however,the levels of IL-2 and CGRP in Xueshuantong group were significantly highest than those in the other two groups ( P <0 .05 ) .After 7-day treatment , plaque size and thickness in Xueshuantong group and Butylphthalide group were significantly decreased , as compared with those before treatment( P <0.05),but there were no significant differences in the plaque size and thickness between Xueshuantong group and Butylphthalide group ( P >0 .05 ) .The CA-IMT in Xueshuantong group and Butylphthalide group was significantly decreased after treatment,moreover,which in Butylphthalide group was significantly higher than that in Xueshuantong group (P <0.05).After 90-day follow up,NIHSS scores in Butylphthalide group were significantly lower than those in the other two groups( P <0.05).After 90-day follow up Barthel scores in Butylphthalide group and Xueshuantong group were significantly higher than those in control group ( P <0.05),but there were no significant difference between Butylphthalide group and Xue -shuantong group( P >0.05).There were significant differences in MRS scores among the three groups after 90-day follow up ( P <0.05).Conclusion Butylphthalide and Xueshuantong are effective in treating acute cerebral infarction.Butylphthalide has obvious effect in inhibiting inflammation and improving prognosis of neurological function ,while Xueshuantong has obvious effect in improving carotid intima-media thickness .
