Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression of Lipocalin-2 and its relationship with MMP-9 as well as prognosis of patients with primary lung cancer .Methods The expression levels of Lipocalin-2 and MMP-9 were detected by immunohistochemistry ( SP) in 55 cases of lung cancer tissues and 40 cases of normal lung tissues .The relationship between Lipocalin-2 expression and clinicopathological features of lung cancer as well as relapse rate was analyzed .Western blot was used to detect the expression of Lipocalin-2 in lung adenocarcinoma and lung squamous carcinoma .Results The positive expression rates of Lipocalin-2 and MMP-9 in lung cancer tissues were significantly higher than those of normal lung tissues (P <0.05),furthermore,the expression of Lipocalin-2 was positively correlated to that of MMP-9( r =0.586, P <0.05). The positive expression rate of Lipocalin-2 was increased ,with the increase of clinical stage and lymph node metastasis of lung cancer. The 3-year relapse rate after operation in patients with higher expression of Lipocalin -2 was significantly higher than that in patients with lower expression of Lipocalin-2( P <0.05).The expression levels of Lipocalin-2 in lung adenocarcinoma were significantly higher than those in lung squamous carcinoma ( P <0.05).Conclusion The overexpression of Lipocalin-2 plays an important role in the invasion and metastasis of primary lung cancer , which can be used as a index for evaluating prognosis of patients with lung cancer .
