Expression and clinical significance of COX-2 and PCNA in cystitis glandularis
Abstract:Objective To explore the expression and clinical significance of cyclooxygenase -2 ( COX-2 ) and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in cystitis glandularis. Methods The immunohistochemistry was used to examine the expression levels of COX-2 and PCNA in 20 cases of normal mucosa of bladder ,30 cases of cystitis glandularis and 20 cases of transitional cell carcinoma of bladder .Results The positive expression rate of COX-2 in cystitis glandularis was 30%(9/30),which was higher than that in normal mucosa of bladder (5%,1/20),however,which was lower than that in transitional cell carcinoma of bladder (55%,11/20),but there were no significances among them ( P >0.05).The positive expression rate of PCNA in cystitis glandularis was 26.67%(8/30),which was significantly higher than that in normal mucosa of bladder (0,0/20) ( P <0.05),which was lower than that in transitional cell carcinoma of bladder ,but there was no significant difference among them ( P >0.05).The positive expression rates both COX-2 and PCNA in transitional cell carcinoma of bladder were significantly higher than those in normal mucosa of bladder ( P <0.05).Conclusion The expression of COX-2 and PCNA plays an important role in the pathogenesis of bladder neoplasms , and cystitis glandularis is benign lesion, however, which has potentiality to become malignant lesion ,so the study about the correlation between expression of COX-2,PCNA in cystitis glandularis and pathogenesis of bladder neoplasms has important significance .
