Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of probing dry-weight on left ventricular mass index ( LV-MI) and to explore its relationship with blood pressure changes .Methods Forty-five patients who underwent maintenance hemodialysis were randomly divided into ultrafiltration group ( n =30) and control group ( n =15), the blood pressure in all the subjects was detected and echocardiogram indexes were analyzed at beginning ,4 weeks and 8 weeks. Results At beginning, LVMI in control group and ultrafiltration group was 136.3g/m2 and 138.7g/m2,respectively,there was a significant difference between two groups ( P <0.05),which at 4 weeks and 8 weeks in control group was increased by 3.5g/m2 and 0.4g/m2,respectively ( P <0.05).However LVMI at 4 weeks and 8 weeks in ultrafiltration group was decreased by 7.5g/m2 and 6.3g/m2,respectively,the decrease degree was 11.0g/m2 more than that in control group at 4 weeks ( P <0.05) and 6.7 g/m2 at 8 weeks ( P <0.05).Furthermore at beginning the blood pressure of patients with higher LVMI was more obviously decreased (P <0.05).Conclusion The probing dry-weight up to the standard can decrease LVMI of patients undergoing hemodialysis,as a result, which can improve patient’s prognosis.
