The expression and clinical significance of Cyclin D1 and p27 in bone marrow biopsy tissue of multiple myeloma

Abstract：Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of Cyclin D 1 and p27 in bone marrow biopsy tissue of multiple myeloma ( MM ) , and to explore its significance in the pathogenesis , development and turnover of MM .Methods The expression levels of CyclinD 1 and P27 in bone marrow biopsy tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry in 80 patients with MM ( MM group ) and 10 patients with iron deficiency anemia ( control group ) .Results There were significant differences in the positive rates of Cyclin D 1 and P27 expression between MM group and control group (57.5% vs 10%,37.5% vs 90.0% ( P <0.05). There were significant differences in the positive expression rates of Cyclin D 1 and P27 in MM group among different stages ( P <0.05),however,there were no significant differences in the positive rates of Cyclin D 1 and P27 expression in MM group at different types ( P >0.05).There were no significant differences in the positive rates of Cyclin D1 and P 27 expression before treatment between MM release group and MM non -release group (P >0.05),however,there were significant differences in the positive rates of Cyclin D 1 and P27 expression after treatment between MM release group and MM non-release group ( P <0.05).The expression of Cyclin D1was negatively correlated to that of p27 in MM (R =0.521).Conc lusion Cyclin D1 in human myeloma cells is over-expressed and strengthened with the increase of malignant degree of MM .However P27 protein is low expressed in MM,and the expression is decreased with the increase of malignant degree of MM .The expressions of Cyclin D1 and P27 are closely correlated to pathogenesis ,developmen and malignant degree of MM ,which plays an important role in the diagnosis ,malignant degree assessment and prognosis evaluation for MM .
