Study on Correlation between the Methane Generation and Environmental Factors from Two Tributaries of Huangpu River

Abstract：Methane is regarded as one of significant greenhouse gases .Although methane content in the air is far less than that of carbon dioxide , the growth rate of the former is more than the latter .Two tribu-taries, Suzhou River and Dingpu River , are chosen as the study area .By comparison analysis of experi-mental data , this paper discusses the mechanism of methane generation and correlation associated with some environmental factors , which can be helpful to study the impact of the methane discharge on envi-ronmental change .The results show that methane mainly comes from the sediments in the river and its generation is correlated with water quality and temperature .And methane in the river has a negative corre-lation with ammonium salt and organic carbon ,and a positive correlation with the nitrate .
