Finite Element Approximations for Space Fractional Diffusion Equation

Abstract：In this paper , we consider the numerical solution of the space fractional diffusion equation .We obtain a semi-discrete formulation to it based on finite element method .Convergence of the method is rig-orously established .Numerical experiments are carried out to support the theoretical predictions .
