Abstract：In connection with the characteristics and purpose of public elective courses in colleges and univer-sities,take for example programming design courses,problems existing in teaching ofpublic elective course were analyzed,and a teaching mode on combination of public elective course and professional direction was presented,also its implementation was discussed.The teaching modecan effectively meet the diverse needs of students,improve students'learning interest andwidentheir knowledge,also can improve the teaching quality of public elective course in colleges and universities.
