Abstract：Assessing coal and gas outburst risk for mine is the key to ensure the safety of outburst mine in pro -duction.In this paper,taking Bailing Coal Mine as an example,through determining local coal -seam gas-pressure ,analyzing the characteristics of the coal samples and determining coal gas parameters such as the ini -tial speed of gas emission ,consistence and so on ,then the single index method was carried out for assessing the coal and gas outburst risk of 6#,7# and 8# coal seam reasonably ,thus it can provide a scientific basis for the mine to take measures for gas prevention and control and play a guiding role for the safety management.
