Discussion on Philosophy, Difficulties and Models of General Education
Abstract：In recent years, most Chinese universities and colleges have been aware of the inadequacy of pure emphasis on profes- sional education in current higher education. Combined with their own characteristics, they have carried out active and effective exploration into general education; and various models represented by FuDan University, Sun Yat-Sen University and Beijing U- niversity of Aeronautics & Astronautics have come into being. However, none of these models is the mainstream or mature one in national general education. Due to the disagreement in the philosophy of general education and theunderestimation of the difficul- ties in developing general education, there is still immense space for the reform and exploration of general education both in theo- ry and in practice. Development of general education should be the long-term task of Chinese universities and colleges.
